MentorVoice ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your personal data. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and your rights under the GDPR and applicable data protection laws.

1. Who we are

MentorVoice is operated by Alexey Banaev. For data protection queries contact us at hello@alexeybanaev.cloud.

2. Data we collect

• Account data — email address and hashed password when you register.
• Voice audio — microphone recordings you make during practice sessions. Audio is processed in real time for transcription and pronunciation assessment, then discarded. We do not store raw audio files.
• Session transcripts — text logs of your conversations with the AI coach, stored to enable session history and vocabulary tracking.
• Learning data — grammar error patterns and vocabulary progress tracked by the spaced-repetition system.
• Payment data — processed by Stripe. We receive a subscription status and customer ID; we never store card numbers.
• Usage data — anonymised telemetry (page loads, feature usage) for product improvement.

3. Legal basis for processing

• Contract performance — processing your account and session data to deliver the service you signed up for.
• Legitimate interests — anonymised analytics to improve the product.
• Legal obligation — retaining billing records as required by law.

4. How we use your data

• Providing, operating and improving MentorVoice
• Sending transactional emails (email verification, payment receipts)
• Detecting and preventing abuse or fraud
• Complying with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data or use it for advertising.

5. Data sharing

We share data only with:

• Microsoft Azure — cloud infrastructure, speech processing and AI services (EU data centres).
• Stripe — payment processing. Stripe Privacy Policy.
• SimplySend — transactional email delivery (your email address only).

All processors are contractually bound to handle your data in compliance with GDPR.

6. Data retention

• Session transcripts and learning data — retained while your account is active; deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
• Billing records — retained for 7 years as required by accounting law.
• Voice audio — not retained after real-time processing.

7. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and data
• Export your data in a portable format
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority

8. Cookies

MentorVoice uses only functional, first-party storage (localStorage) to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

9. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed with Argon2. Secrets are stored in Azure Key Vault, not in application code. We apply the principle of least privilege throughout our infrastructure.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be notified by email or a notice within the app. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
